Contribution to the Local Economy
Rooted in the heart of the Oisans since 1959, SATA Group–AEON actively contributes to the local economic development and vitality of mountain territories. Beyond managing our ski areas, we support local employment, businesses, and services. Every season, every activity, and every investment by SATA Group–AEON has a concrete impact on the local economy, allowing residents and regional stakeholders to benefit directly from the economic returns, all year round.
Our Objective
To strengthen our role as a local economic actor by maximising the positive impact of our activities on the community and ensuring that every euro invested benefits directly those who sustain and live in the Oisans throughout the year.

Going Further for the Environment
Present in 13 municipalities— Huez, Vaujany, Oz-en-Oisans, Villard-Reculas, Auris-en-Oisans, Le Freney-en-Oisans, La Garde-en-Oisans, Allemond, Les Deux Alpes (Mont-de-Lans et Venosc), Saint-Christophe-en-Oisans, La Grave-La Meije and l’Alpe du Grand Serre (La Morte and Villard Saint Christophe) — SATA Group–AEON is a committed local actor.
SATA Group–AEON is a mixed-economy company (SEM), operating at the intersection of public and private sectors. Its capital is held by both local authorities (municipalities, intercommunal bodies, departments, etc.) and private partners. With a majority public capital, the company combines a public-interest mission, local development, and entrepreneurial efficiency.
This hybrid model provides the opportunity to blend public interest with economic efficiency:
- Local authorities ensure that decisions serve the local development and quality of life of the territory.
- Private partners bring technical expertise and management agility.
In practice, for SATA Group–AEON, this means that every euro generated remains in the territory and serves the local community.
SATA Group–AEON reinvests 100% of our revenue in the territories where it operates, through the development of mountain areas, local employment, services, and infrastructure. No dividends are paid to external shareholders meaning that every euro directly benefits the local economy.
The goal is to contribute to the development of a territory where our teams live and work—a territory managed by people who are either local to the area or have made it their home.
Every euro invested in our mountain areas directly benefits the local economies of Oisans and Matheysine in Isère: hospitality, restaurants, services, transport, shops… It also supports essential infrastructures such as schools and medical centres.
The 13 municipalities at the hear of our mountain areas are home to over 5,000 residents, along with surrounding communities whose populations also contribute to the activity of the mountain areas.
Thanks to the economic momentum generated by our ski areas, families can settle permanently in the Oisans and Matheysine territories in Isère. New residents are thus joining vibrant and attractive communities, which continue to develop to provide a high quality of life and year-round employment opportunities.
On each development project, more than 30 local companies from Isère and the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region are involved.
These partnerships focus on on-the-ground experts familiar with the specific challenges and skills required in mountain environments: high-altitude civil engineering, cable work, landscaping, and infrastructure maintenance.
By working with these companies, we strengthen the local economic fabric while ensuring the quality, safety, and durability of our installations.
This short supply chain approach also helps reduce travel, lower the carbon footprint of construction, and support employment within the region.
